Tee and Mo

Tee and Mo is a children’s television show on TVO Kids. What makes this show so special is its use of 3D layouts to give dimension and parallax to its 2D style.
My role on this project was to take provided 2D illustrations and layer them within a 3D environment. Then model and texture 3D props and vehicles to work within those environments. This gave us the depth and convenience of 3D while still maintaining the beautiful painterly style of 2D. Any 3D props and vehicles were rigged to be flat while still maintaining their 3D information so that the 2D characters could easily interact with them.
My tasks on this project were to:
model numerous environments, props, and vehicles per week to meet production deadlines
create 3D environments that combined 3D assests with layered 2D illustrations
build environment layouts of 2D and 3D assets to maintain original illustration framing while adding dimension and parallax
assist with and create textures and illustrations for props, vehicles, and backgrounds
animate background elements such as clouds, water, and foliage
generate referenced environment master files for the animation team that would automatically update should any art direction be changed during production
create morph targets for 2D and 3D prop animation, including Tee’s toys, Action Ape and Dino Chum
train and supervise new members of the modeling team.
